CONFTURISMO

Confturismo is the largest Italian organisation representing the tourism industry, founded in 2000 by the Confcommercio, the General Confederation of Trade, Tourism, Services and SMEs. With 200,000 (out of 250,000) companies and 1.8 million employees associated, Confturismo represents more than 70% of the Italian tourism sector, thereby establishing itself as the most important single reference point for the industry, an organisation capable of providing companies with the most appropriate answers and solutions for a continually changing market.
Confturismo fulfills a very specific role: to guarantee Italian tourism the best conditions in which to exploit its enormous potential.
The following industry federations are members of Confturismo: FAITA (open-air tourism and accommodation facilities), Federalberghi (hotels), Federnautica (nautical tourism), FIAVET (travel agents), FIPE (bars and catering), Rescasa (tourist residences, houses and flats), Federviaggio (organised tourism), AIMote (timeshares), AIMP (meeting planners) and ASSI (incentives and conventions). The President of Confturismo is Bernabò Bocca.
Its Vice Presidents are Lino Stoppani and Giuseppe Cassarà.

Confturismo has five main objectives:

  • To provide strong representation that can influence the formulation of European, national and regional policies for the tourism sector;
  • To promote the role of tourism as a factor in developing the entire local economy;
  • To ensure the professional and commercial growth of those operating in tourism;
  • To guarantee the conservation of Italy’s cultural heritage, safeguarding and promoting the specific aspects of the Italian tourism brand;
  • To promote the development of sustainable tourism.
Confturismo is a signatory to the national industry labour contract representing private businesses such as: hotels, travel agents, camp sites, holiday resorts, tourist residences and hotels, bars, restaurants, beach resorts, discotheques, youth hostels, boating marinas plus rentals in the nautical and transport sectors.

FONDAZIONE ROSSELLI

The Rosselli Foundation is an independent, non-profit institution created in Turin in 1988. Its main focus is in the field of applied research in the economic, social and political sectors, with particular emphasis on national and international public policymaking.  Over the years, the Rosselli Foundation has become a think-tank advising the Italian government and the main Italian and international institutions, a role it carries out with great civic sensitivity and scientific rigour.

The Rosselli Foundation’s Institute for Tourism and Culture (ITeC) conducts research in economics, sociology and technology as applied to culture and tourism. This is achieved through the development, surveying and diffusion of innovative processes and products, used to exploit cultural treasures and activities as well as tourism resources.

Interest in these themes comes from an awareness of the importance of a country’s cultural patrimony, a key resource in the development process (especially in non-industrialised areas), and of the significant role played by tourism – both an opportunity for economic growth and also a risk to the protection of this heritage. Additionally, the economic significance of cultural consumption is also a fundamental factor in the Institute’s selection of areas to research.
